„Colochurch“ is an interactive experience of Cologne‘s Romanic churches captured and displayed using point cloud data. It was part of a project called „creator of a world“ with the task to create any interactive world you wanted. During the early design process, I descided I wanted to experiment with point clouds. After doing some tests in the city of Cologne, it became clear that churches from the middle ages are particulary suited to be scanned in 3D. By subsequently applying emissive materials to the point cloud gave it a very special aesthetic.
The churches you can walk through are: St. Gereon, St. Georg, St. Maria im Kapitol, St. Pantaleon & St. Kunibert.
Once planned as a construct of an ideal social order, urban spaces planned as ideal cities face the challenge of a constantly changing society. In the development of a utopian city, not only the production of space, given infrastructure and industrial functional design are planned, but also how people move in it. Starting from the planned city of Victoria in Romania, the summer school „Utopian Cities/Programmed societies“dealt with the interventions that make unfinished urban utopias possible. Experimentally we tried to rediscover the physical and social arrangements and materialities of the city. During a week-long summer camp in Viktoriastadt, we explored the relationship between architecture and utopias, technology and utopia, environment and industry, between imaginary communities and their development (including migration), to evaluate possibilities for reinvesting utopias and transforming these forgotten places. Our Work „Victoria 2065“ shows Victoria in its naked form, only fragments of the City are visible. We used photogrammetry to scan the buildings and created dense point clouds. Then we placed these in 3D space. During our stay, my group got in contact wich the local school, so we asked were able to ask the children to draw their future or best version of Victoria. The drawings we also placed inside the world. It can be experienced in VR or as a rendered Video.
